Ramon Judah is one of my favourite reggae singers. If you ever get the chance to see him perform live then you should grab the opportunity with both hands. Just the other night he came down to the Unit 137 dance ‘No Pips’ with Lionpulse Sound. He brought nothing but good energy and amazing talent. Ramon has travelled the world performing with various reggae bands and has recorded with some of the greatest UK Reggae & Dub producers in the business.
I first met Ramon Judah down at the Reggae Roast dances when they used to be at Plan B in Brixton. Something that instantly struck me about Ramon was his enthusiasm for music and good energy. Plan B recently shutdown (now reopened as Phonox). Since then, Ramon has been continuing to bless up dances and festivals all over the UK & Europe.
Ramon grew up in Liverpool, where making music was an everyday occurrence for him and his family. His Father is the renowned soul singer ‘Sugar Ramon Deen’ and all of Ramon’s siblings are also singers. Ramon Judah has released at least eleven or twelve singles that I know of, with top ranking Reggae record labels, as well as a great album called ‘Sweet Reggae Vibes’.
This beautiful song (see below) is the title track from Ramon’s album ‘Sweet Reggae Vibes’. The album was released in 2010 on ‘L.I.O.N Music Ltd’ and features thirteen great songs. It was recorded at ‘London Individual Studios’ and was produced & arranged by Colin Lli Simms. This track touches on a lovers rock vibe, but is much deeper than a love song between a man & woman. This is a song for the people, that addresses the need people have for Reggae music and the message that it carries in their lives. Sadly the producer of this album passed away very shortly after it’s release. Although he had lined up deals, which meant that this album was on sale in shops such as HMV, the information regarding all of the sales were lost…
One of my favourite Ramon Judah singles was produced by Dougie Conscious aka Conscious Sounds, titled ‘The Vibe’. It was released on 7” by French label Vibescreator Records in 2013, with a strong dub on the flip. This record lives up to it’s name and always brings great energy to any dance. I remember the first time I heard this record being played by ‘Lionpulse Sound’ at a house party and instantly recognising Ramon’s voice due to his distinctively gruff but smooth vocal style.
