Unfortunately, not much is known about Ras Clifton in the history of Reggae music. However, from the mist of Bullwackie’s studio in 1982 came two atmospheric slices of music: the immense “Queen of the Universe” (a tribute to African womanhood) and “Look Over Yonder”. The latter is Lloyd Barnes in full control, painting a shimmering, dubby landscape. No instrument escapes the classic skittery delay and Perry-esque wash. Smooth and lush but with the rawness of Keith Hudson. Oh, and the vocal is beautiful, too!
