Released in 2005 on Mad House Records, Yellowman’s cut on Dave Kelly’s ‘Eighty Five’ riddim demonstrated to the world that he still had his lyrical skills. The tune was one of his biggest hits in recent years and along with other artists such as Baby Cham and Alicia Keys on the riddim, the release was big news. Yellowman’s vocal ability combined with his openness in publicly addressing the very personal topic of being an orphan seperated it from the other versions. Yellowman talks about the harsh childhood he had throughout: “I was a orphan without a home, 100% barefoot, ghetto grown.”
